Just Cuts community raises over $20,000 for SANE Australia

  • Just Cuts #Hearts4SANE campaign raises over $20,000 for SANE Australia
  • Clients purchased over 16,000 SANE Hearts in salons and penned heart-warming notes
  • SANE Australia is a national charity for people affected by complex mental health issues

Just Cuts today announced the success of the pre- Christmas #Hearts4SANE campaign, which saw Clients and Stylists across the network come together to raise over $20,000 in just 5 days for national mental health charity SANE Australia.

Stylists from the Australian franchise network collected $1-$2 gold coin and EFTPOS donations in salons for 5 days before Christmas to help fund the critical work of SANE Australia in supporting people affected by complex mental health issues such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), as well their carers, friends and family.

Just Cuts Clients purchased over 16,000 SANE Australia Blue Hearts which they also signed to show their support. The hearts were displayed in salons for the 5 day #Hearts4SANE fundraising drive.

SANE will use the donations to reinforce existing support services including a national freecall help centre with experienced counsellors and online chat capability and 24/7 moderated online Forums with live chat.

Just Cuts CEO, Amber Manning, said the result is another example of Stylist’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of the local communities in which they work.

“I’m amazed by this effort from our 2,500 Australian stylists and their Clients for SANE Australia,” said Amber.

“I was incredibly proud to scroll through social media shots of salon teams wearing blue over our 5 day fundraising drive, and the amount raised is especially impressive considering COVID has impacted trading for so many small businesses like ours.”

“COVID continues to influence our lives and by extension our mental health, so I congratulate Stylists and Clients on this tremendous contribution to SANE Australia which will make a big difference for so many people suffering from complex mental health issues right now,” adds Amber.

Amber Manning presented SANE with a cheque for $20,000 on Wednesday at the Just Cuts Academy in Caringbah, Sydney.

SANE CEO, Rachel Green thanked Just Cuts for their awareness campaign and donation.

“It’s great to see Just Cuts recognise the critical importance of SANE’s peer and counselling support services that experienced a significant increase during COVID-19. I thank the Just Cuts community for raising awareness and funds to help us support those living with complex mental health issues, their families, friends and carers.”

More about Just Cuts

Just Cuts is an Australian hairdressing franchise that bridges the gap between a barber and a high end hair salon. With salons in every state of Australia, on both the North and South islands New Zealand and the United Kingdom, it is the largest hairdressing company in the Southern Hemisphere. Based on a fixed price, no appointment system, Just Cuts offers clients affordable haircuts from fully qualified hairdressers and performs over 100,000 Style Cut cuts per week across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Celebrating 30 years in 2020, Just Cuts was the brainchild of Denis McFadden, who turned a simple idea into a business concept that would change the hairdressing industry forever. McFadden ran his first ever “no appointment, $6 Style Cut” promotion at his humble Sydney salon, receiving an outstanding response from clients. It was on this basic fixed price initiative that the idea of Just Cuts was born. The following year, the inaugural Just Cuts salon opened its door to the public. And in 1990, the first Just Cuts franchise opened in the suburb of Engadine, in the south of Sydney, New South Wales. Our brand has continued to expand ever since, with over 220 locations across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

In 2013, Just Cuts launched JUSTICE Professional – a range of salon quality haircare and styling products available exclusively in all our salons at a competitive, affordable price. The JUSTICE Professional line has something for everyone, including everyday shampoos and conditioners, anti-dandruff and dry scalp treatments, toning products, nourishing leave-in treatments and a range of hair styling waxes and sprays.
